Acquired in 2011 by The Bacon Family, our journey to bring you Loxwood Meadow as it is today is a testament to passion, dedication, and an abiding reverence for the land. Over the years, we have lovingly nurtured this landscape, transforming the acres of breathtaking meadows and enchanting woodlands, meticulously restored to their former glory. We engage in year-round farming activities and host events that unfold from June to September each year.
The town of Loxwood itself is nestled in the beautiful county of West Sussex full of rich history and expansive landscapes. The very name "Loxwood" whispers of its storied past. Derived from Old English, "Lox" hails from the Celtic word for "winding stream," while "wood" finds its origins in "Weald," an Anglo-Saxon term for forest. Thus, Loxwood embodies the timeless interplay of water and woodland, a harmonious blend of nature's elements. Find out more about Loxwood history here.
At Loxwood Meadow, we embrace a holistic approach to land management. In addition to hosting and organising an array of events such as The Loxwood Joust, our grounds serve as a sanctuary for biodiversity. An apiary thrives amidst our meadows, providing a haven for bees whose industrious work sustains our delicate ecosystem. Wildflowers, carefully cultivated, adorn our landscape, offering sustenance and shelter to the creatures that call Loxwood home. These bees are responsible for creating the delicious honey used for our very own Loxwood Meadworks.
Welcome to Loxwood Meadow, where every moment is infused with the spirit of renewal and reverence. Join us as we continue to write the next chapter of our story, organising and hosting some of England's best events, whilst nurturing the land to it's full potential.
Meet Maurice and Danny, a dynamic father-son team who have been managing the land and running The Loxwood Joust since 2012.
Through their collective journey, they've honed their skills and cultivated a profound understanding of the land, becoming true masters of their craft.
